SGG STADIP SILENCE is an acoustic laminated safety glass, consisting of two or more sheets of glass bonded together by one or more acoustic Polyvinyl Butyral interlayers, known as PVB (A)

Where can it be used

SGG STADIP SILENCE is ideal for any application in the home where there is a need to insulate against excessive noise levels but is most effective when used in double glazing. It is particularly effective against traffic noise when used in windows facing onto busy roads. It is also ideal for conservatory roofs, rooflights and glazed roofs by reducing noise from rain and hail.

What is it?
SGG STADIP SILENCE combines two sheets of clear glass bonded together with a totally transparent plastic interlayer. The interlayer absorbs sound and reduces the level transmitted through the glass helping to keep both unwanted noise out, or to keep noise in.

External facades

When used in double-glazed form (i.e. SGG CLIMALIT SILENCE or SGG CLIMAPLUS SILENCE), SGG STADIP SILENCE considerably reduces noise from outside in commercial or residential buildings located in noisy areas (close to main roads, motorways, railway stations, airports, etc.).

Overhead glazing

SGG STADIP SILENCE provides protection against impact noise from rain on windows and overhead glazing.

Internal partitions

• Interpreter booths
• Office partitions
• Meeting rooms.

SGG STADIP SILENCE can be used in many applications, combining optimum acoustic performance with the same mechanical resistance and safety properties of SGG STADIP or SGG STADIP PROTECT.

  • Creates more peaceful interiors by reducing noise pollution from air, train and road traffic, general street noise and noisy neighbours.
  • Is also effective at keeping sound in where confidentiality or consideration to neighbours is required.
  • Is a safety glass and can be used in safety critical locations.
  • Can be manufactured to provide enhanced security. If broken through vandalism, the glass remains adhered to the interlayer, hindering breakage through the glazing.
  • The interlayer filters up to 99% of UV radiation, therefore the use of SGG STADIP SILENCE in patio doors and conservatories helps slow the fading of furnishings.
  • Its interlayer is transparent and colourless, meaning  SGG STADIP SILENCE resembles ordinary glass, with excellent optical qualities.

 Acoustic insulation

SGG STADIP SILENCE has a significantly improved acoustic performance compared with SGG STADIP and SGG STADIP PROTECT glass of the same composition using conventional PVB.

Mechanical resistance and safety

SGG STADIP SILENCE has the same mechanical resistance and safety performance as SGG STADIP or SGG STADIP PROTECT of the same composition.

SGG STADIP SILENCE can be combined with may of the other products in the Saint-Gobain Glass range to crate a greater level of comfort in the home.

Base product

SGG STADIP SILENCE is available in the same compositions as products from the SGG STADIP and SGG STADIP PROTECT range.

Products are named in the same way as the SGG STADIP and SGG STADIP PROTECT range. If the product comprises SGG PLANICLEAR clear float glass, as this is used as standard, no specific reference is given to the glass substrate. For  example:

SGG STADIP SILENCE 8.8mm glass comprises 2 sheets of 4mm SGG PLANICLEAR glass, assembled with 2 acoustic PVB(A) interlayers. If other glass types are used, the product name is added after SGG STADIP SILENCE. For example SGG STADIP SILENCE 10.4mm ANTELIO SILVER consists of 6mm SGG ANTELIO SILVER solar control glass, 4mm SGG PLANICLEAR glass with one acoustic PVB(A) interlayer, 0.38 mm thick.

Acoustic insulation

SGG STADIP SILENCE overcomes the drop in the acoustic insulating performance of glass at the critical frequency, in both single and double glazing. It therefore ensures optimum acoustic performance.

For single glazing

For the same thickness of glass, SGG STADIP SILENCE achieves an average increase, expressed in Rw (BS EN ISO 717), of between 3 dB compared with conventional SGG STADIP or SGG STADIP PROTECT laminated glass and 5 dB compared with monolithic  SGG PLANICLEAR.

SGG STADIP SILENCE achieves the same levels of safety and security as SGG STADIP, SGG STADIP PROTECT and SGG STADIP PROTECT SP, of identical composition (glass thickness and number of interlayers). Example: 9.5mm SGG STADIP SILENCE is classed as P5A in accordance with BS EN 356 along with SGG STADIP PROTECT SP 510 (9.5mm).

Processed Product variation

SGG STADIP SILENCE is processed in the same way as SGG STADIP laminated glass.

SGG STADIP SILENCE must be installed in accordance with current national regulations and our special guidelines. It is essential to take into account that the framing and glazing method are of equal importance as the glass. Any air gaps significantly reduce the overall acoustic insulating performance of the window.

SGG STADIP SILENCE glass complies with standard BS EN 12543 and will receive the relevant CE marking when it is officially in force.
