Saint-Gobain Glass has introduced SGG COOL-LITE SKN 176 a high specification solar control coating which can be combined with additional safety and acoustic performance when laminated with its existing SGG STADIP range.

SGG COOL-LITE SKN 176 is the result of Saint-Gobain Glass’ continuing development of new and innovative coatings to help meet the ever increasing demands of the commercial market, in this case by bringing together many different performance benefits in a single product combination.

Architects and specifiers are already familiar with the advanced properties of the SGG COOL-LITE and SGG STADIP ranges, said Adrian Adams, Commercial Market Manager at Saint-Gobain Glass: “This new combination opens up a whole range of possible additional applications by giving designers and architects the ability of bringing together high performance solar control, safety and acoustic features in a single product.”

The reduction in solar heat gain helps to minimise the need for air conditioning, helping to reduce building energy loads and CO2 emissions, as well as limiting the need for secondary solar barriers such as louvers or blinds.

SGG COOL-LITE SKN 176 can optimise sound insulation by combining it with SGG STADIP SILENCE, an acoustic laminate interlayer. It also offers safety and security benefits, such as protection against accidental and wilful damage, and can achieve P1A and P2A accreditation for BS EN 356 when used with SGG STADIP PROTECT. An additional benefit to the SGG STADIP range is that it also features UV filtration and therefore significantly reduces the level of UV fading in soft furnishings.

SGG COOL-LITE SKN 176 is the latest in a series of market-leading innovations from Saint-Gobain Glass; its development has been made possible due to the emphasis placed by Saint-Gobain on research and development of market leading technologies.
