How does it work?



SGG PLANITHERM products have a transparent metallic coating that reflects heat from radiators or fires back into the room, rather than allowing it to escape through the windows. At the same time it allows free heat and light from the sun (known as passive solar heat gain) to pass through the glass, warming your home and further contributing to the energy efficiency of your windows.

The SGG Planitherm range is manufactured on the UK's only magnetron coater and includes the following:

SGG PLANITHERM TOTAL+: Developed especially for the UK market, this unique single-stock, high performance low-emissivity glass can be used either annealed or toughened. It boasts a very neutral appearance, high light transmission, an optimum centre pane U-value of 1.2W/m2K* and optimised solar gain for excellent window energy ratings.

SGG PLANITHERM ULTRA N: an exceptionally low-emissivity glass with an optimum centre pane U-value of 1.1W/m2K*. It boasts a very neutral appearance & extremely high light transmission.

SGG PLANITHERM ULTRA N II: 'to be toughened' version of SGG PLANITHERM ULTRA N

Building Regulations and Window Energy Ratings

SGG PLANITHERM products are the ideal low-E solution to meeting and exceeding the requirements of current Building Regulations relating to energy efficiency.

These regulations have recently been updated to include a Window Energy Rating  scheme. With its optimised balance of very low emissivity and high solar gain SGG PLANITHERM TOTAL is one of the most energy efficient low-E glazing products available and can help achieve the highest window energy ratings.

Thanks to their superior thermal insulating performance, SGG PLANITHERM products enable a wider range of frame types and designs to meet maximum whole window U-values affording greater flexibility.
